Oh my. This is going to be a short post, because there's not much to say but also because I'm rather excited. It's almost time for Ratatat's follow up to LP3, the amazingly titled LP4. It has birds on the cover art. Sweet.

Anyway, here's the lead track from the album which is out on the 8th of June.

Or really should that be Para-EHH!? At any rate, due to exams/stress/pure-bone-idle-laziness I won't be on freshair.org.uk for a while (you should probably check it out anyway though).

To soften the blow, here's some of the stuff that I probably would've played on Electric Happy Hour if it was going out this semester.

Crystal Castles

Following up on their debut, "Crystal Castles", their second album "Crystal Castles", just got released a few days ago. It wasn't meant to be out until June but I think leakage prompted a hurried release. I don't have it yet, but if the other tracks are anything like the one and a half minute "Doe Deer" I think it'll be an album worth getting.

When I first heard it I played it about 4 times in a row. It's one of those tracks.

I don't know that much about Rainbow Arabia. What I do know is that "Omar K" is a frickin' sweet song. Like Doe Deer it was one of those "play four times in a row" songs. The video is also amazing. Check it out:

The Aston Shuffle

Played these guys aaaaages ago on Electric Happy Hour with their funky "Do you want more?", which featured the vocal talents of the lovely Danimal Kingdom. It also had a bloody fantastic video about a Japanese gameshow. Has to been seen really.

Anyway, they're back with possibly an even funkier tune; "I wanna see you". Just about every blog in blogsville has posted this track, along with the excellent DCUP remix, so you should go to better blogs to find it. I can, however provide you with YouTube links (save your fingers, eh?).

Flight Facilities

I know nothing about Flight Facilities. Well, they've only just released their first single so I guess that's ok. Said single is pretty damn popular on the blogs. If you want to keep up with the trendy folk, you should probably listen to it also... (p.s. Kitsune Maison kids "Ted & Francis" have a cover version which you should also take for an ear-spin).

Two Door Cinema Club

Speaking of Kitsune, TDCC are appearing on a Kitsune Maison Compilation for the 3rd time! I'm a bit of a TDCC fanboy to be honest (did I mention they're from my home town? Did I?!) and now they've been remixed by my favourite disco-y/bass-y remixers, The Twelves. It's great. Also great is another TDCC song remixed by LightsoverLA. Yum.

P.S. Kitsune 9 came out yesterday, buy it and it'll be your sound of the summer.

GRVRBBRS

That's GRVRBBRS pronounced "graverobbers". A la "MSTRKRFT". Kids these days... too cool for vowels it seems. Anyway, GRVRBBRS have a bit of a disco-y Justice vibe about them, which can only be good in my opinion. Here's their remixes of Little Boots and Amanda Blank (the Amanda Blank one is absurdly good).

Crookers

I'm not really sure about Crookers... some of their remixes I like, others I don't. Sometimes with the seirens, horns and what not it feels a bit cheesy. Their new song ft. Yelle is actually pretty subtle though. Their remix of Lady GaGa's Telephone is not. Both are pretty good though.

Sebastien Tellier

I love Sebastien Tellier. And he loves sexual sportswear, apparently... His album "Sexuality" (produced by one half of Daft Punk) is pretty damn excellent, so I was excited to hear a remix album is being released. I haven't bought it yet, but just looking at who's involved, it looks mega. Two of the remixes I've already encountered (and played on freshair, I might add!); the rather beautiful Boys Noize remix of "L'Amour et la Violence" and the Danger remix of "Divine" which is quite possibly the best remix there's ever been of anything, ever. FACT.

This is my first attempt at one of these blog things, so be gentle.

The name's Kyle, and this blog is mostly tying in with my radio show on FreshAir, Edinburgh's student radio station. Before Xmas the show was running under the exciting banner of "Kyle Adair show". Mental... Well, having given it a bit more thought, I decided the title should tell people the genre (electric, whatever that means), and be fun (to make up for my dull on air persona), so the show will henceforth be called: Kyle Adair's Electric Happy Hour! woot!

So far I don't know when I'll be on as the show is likely to be in a different slot altogether.
